The two important questions I had about this pod filter were: What material is this filter made of? Can it be washed and reused?

It's a 'gauze' type filter. So it can be safely washed.

We used a KN cleaning kit to clean the filter. You are meant to let the cleaning agent soak for 10 minutes, then wash it off with water. Once dry, it is a good idea to use a little bit of oil to preserve the gauze material. A lot of thick black dirt and dust washed out, as we had not cleaned it for at least 4 years! Ideally, this should be done at least once a year.
